So, we got some goats! We are extremely excited. We've always wanted goats. Maybe it would be more accurate to say I, Rebekah, have always wanted goats. I grew up around my Papaw's goats, and I guess it only felt natural to assume I'd have goats of my own one day!
We found the goats in Blairsville. A sweet lady was needing to downsize her farm a bit. We visited and I was attached. So off we went, down the highway, with two goats in crates in the back of Wesley's Chevrolet Silverado (2002 mind you). We were a sight to behold.
Friedrich is a boy (the black one), and he is a Pygmy Goat. He's a bit of a flirt and likes to follow me around. He will do anything for a good scratch on his forehead. Honestly, he will do anything for food! He's a bit of a pig. He is one year old and was a bottle baby. Friedrich is a wethered male, so no babies for us (at least not yet!).
Liesl is our little girl, and she is a Nigerian Dwarf Goat. She's friendly, independent, mischievous and sly. She will find a way to destroy perfectly gathered bales of hay. But I love her in spite of her sneakiness. I'm quite fond of her and think I'll keep her around. Liesl is two years old and was also a bottle baby.
Can anyone guess my inspiration for the goats' names, Liesl and Friedrich?
