Commonly Asked Questions

1. What do I need to bring?

Usually we tell guests to simply bring their favorite foods. We provide linens, towels, soaps, grilling supplies, cutlery, pots, pans, dishes, coffee maker, toaster, and more! We provide things like coffee filters, coffee, olive oil, foil, salt and paper, and sugar! When our hens are laying plenty of eggs, we leave our farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator for guests to use! We also provide several bottles of water. Our well water is tested and approved yearly, but we find some guests prefer to bring their own bottled water.

There are small refrigerators at each property that includes a small freezer. There is not an ice maker. Some guests will bring coolers with ice for frozen items or to have ice cold beverages!

2. Is there heating or AC?

The Airstreams have heating and AC capabilities inside only. In the outdoor space, there are fans to utilize during the warmer months.

The Geodome is not heated and has no AC, therefore it can get very chilly during the spring and fall, and it can get very warm during the summer. During the cooler times, we provide a propane heater, heating blankets, and extra blankets to snuggle up with. During the warmer times, guests can utilize three fans inside the Geodome. The great thing about the summer time is that the dome cools down very nicely during the evening. It is basically a large tent, so it does get hot during the day.

3. Are their bugs?

Yep. Just like there are bugs at your home! We try to keep everything as clean and bug free as possible, but sometimes bugs slip in through an open door or window. We provide bug spray for the outdoor areas. This is glamping with spacious outdoor areas, so please keep that in mind. We cannot keep the bugs from the great outdoors!

4. Are the properties private?

Yes, they are! If you are looking for the most secluded properties, I would recommend the cabin or the Airstreams. The Geodome shares a fence with our small farm, so you may see or hear us as we feed and tidy and the animal area. We are super quiet in the morning so you'll likely not know we have been there, but if you want to join, you are welcome to! We also like to let Max, the goats and the hens free range around the dome as long as the guests are open to having some extra company.

The glamping properties are all within walking distance of each other, so if you have a larger group or family, it is really fun to rent several sites at a time. You're close enough to share meals together, but in the evening you can retreat to your own site for the night.

The cabin is about a half a mile away from the glamping properties.

5. What is the bathroom situation?

Each property has a fully plumbed outdoor but private bathroom, sink, shower, and tub with hot and cold water. The Airstreams also have a small indoor bathroom. The Geodome is most out in the open, so some people prefer to bathe once the sun goes down, but people also use it during the day and it is still quite private.

6. What about wildlife?! Should we be worried about bears?

We have not had any issues with bears. We think Max is a big help with wildlife. Sometimes you may hear coyotes in the distance, but we have not had any reported sitings near the properties. We do ask guests to be mindful of securing trash and any food. It is best not to leave those items out in the open. If food is left outdoors, birds, squirrels, raccoons, and mice will likely be tempted!

7. What activities are there in the area?

Downtown Ellijay is a 20 minute drive away. There are tasty restaurants, fascinating antique shops, Cartecay Brewery, a wine shop, ice cream parlors, and more!

Hiking trails are between a 10 to 45 minute drive away, depending on how far you want to go! Carter's Lake is 5 minutes away, with great fishing and swimming areas! If you want to rent a kayak, just let us know!

At each property, we leave a list recommended restaurants, things to explore, and our favorite hiking trails.
