4/23/2018 3 Comments Guest BloggerLast week, we had the opportunity to host a blogger from the Atlanta area. Several weeks ago, Cynthia from My Curly Mess reached out to inquire about the Airstream. We were so happy to host Cynthia and her husband! They were the sweetest people! Cynthia and her hubby were such good sports regarding the weather. This month, April has decided to welcome the "Dogwood Winter" and the "Blackberry Winter," bringing way too many cold days. They didn't let that stop them from enjoying their stay. Just today, she posted an amazing recap of their stay at the Airstream. One of the many things I loved about her post is that just an hour and half from the busy city of Atlanta, one can find a relaxing retreat to unplug and recharge. I not only hope that our guests can find that relaxation at the Airstream or the Geodome, but also in our cozy little mountain town of Ellijay. There are many wineries, antique shops, farms, and hiking trails to enjoy in Ellijay. If you don't already, head over to the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce to receive updated on events in Ellijay. Don't forget to visit Cynthia's blog "My Curly Mess" to read about her stay at the Airstream!

Have you ever been to Carter's Lake? If not, you are missing out! Carter's Lake is a beautiful. secluded lake nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. I have a fun fact for you about Carter's Lake; the dam is the tallest earthen dam east of the Mississippi River! One thing I love about the lake is that homes are not built on the shoreline. This makes Carter's Lake to be a very peaceful and pristine place to visit. Did you know Elatse'Yi has kayaks that are available for guests to use? We have four single kayaks, paddles, and life vests. This picture came from a trip our recent guests took. It was a beautiful warm spring day and our Geodome guests decided to take out the kayaks to Carter's Lake. The rugged shoreline and land that surrounds Carter's Lake are popular for camping, fishing, mountain biking, and swimming. One of my favorite things to do during the summer is take the kayaks to Cove Road, Ellijay, Georgia, and go kayaking. If you go into the fingers of the lake, you'll find a rope swing! There is nothing better than a summer swim at Carter's Lake. After kayaking, you MUST go to Carter's Lake Marina and get an ice-cream bar.... right? I ALWAYS choose the Snickers ice-cream bar and Wesley ALWAYS chooses the Stawberry Shortcake ice-cream bar. A perfect way to end the day! A few other places that are nice to visit is the Ridgeway Campground, Harris Branch Campground, and Woodring Branch Campground. I love the Ridgeway Campground area; the coves are perfect for kayaking. There is also a trail to hike called Tumbling Waters Trail. The trail is moderate and totals 1.6 miles. There is a well kept bridge to cross to see a close view of the falls that tumble into the lake. Harris Branch Campground is just about two miles away from Elatse'Yi! They have a lovely beach area that is perfect for a lake swim. The Woodring Branch Campground is a perfect place to take kayaks or your mountain bikes! There is a trail called Amadahy which is a perfect place to hike or mountain bike the 3 mile loop and then go for a swim. There are also great places to put in for kayaking. Needless to say, Carter's Lake has tons of fun options while you stay at Elatse'Yi. 4/1/2018 4 Comments Meet Louisa
